Liverpool run riot at Doncaster

Liverpool 9 (Bonner 3, Fors pen 6, Dowie 21,pen 22,40, Williams 33,37, Rolser 74, Longhurst 90)

Liverpool went five points clear at the top of the FA WSL and dramatically increased their goal difference with a league record 9-0 win over Doncaster Rovers Belles, who played with ten players for 84 minutes.

Within the opening three minutes, Liverpool took the lead. Amanda Da Costa struck the bar, but the ball fell to captain Gemma Bonner and she struck home from 12 yards.

Minutes later, Victoria Williams received a straight red card for bringing down Nicole Rolser in the area. Louise Fors stepped up and sent Nicola Davies the wrong way from the spot to extend the visitors' lead.

Natasha finished off a flowing move to make it three, then only a minute later and Da Costa was fouled in the area, resulting in another penalty. Dowie this time stepped up and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Fara Williams got on the scoresheet just after the half hour, prodding the ball into the bottom corner, to give Liverpool a five-goal lead. This became six as the midfielder scored again less than five minutes later.

Liverpool's dominance continued as Dowie sealed her hat-trick just before the break. Rolser pulled the ball back for the striker to expertly place the ball into the bottom corner.

After the break, Williams had the perfect opportunity to complete her hat-trick, however her shot went straight into the arms of Davies.

Doncaster started to come back into the game and Ashleigh Mills latched on to Sue Smith's perfectly weighted through ball, but the winger couldn't control in the wet conditions.

Just after the hour mark, Belles striker Beth England received lengthy treatment and was eventually carried off on a stretcher with what looked like a broken leg.

After missing two earlier attempts, Rolser finally scored Liverpool's eighth. Substitute Kate Longhurst bagged a goal in injury time, her first since joining the club, to complete the scoring and complete a thoroughly miserable night for the Belles.
