FA Festival comes to Peterborough
 Women's Football News 2 Sep 2013
The FA Girls' Football Festival in association with Continental Tyres, a free programme aimed at encouraging girls to participate in football, is coming to Peterborough on Saturday 7th September.
The event will take place at The Grange, via Charlotte Way, Peterborough, PE3 9TT, from 10am-4pm.
England and Arsenal stars Ellen White and Jordan Nobbs will be making an appearance on the day, which will host mini matches run by Northamptonshire FA and Huntingdonshire County FA alongside the festival. Spaces are still available for teams and the event is open to girls and their families to turn up and join in with the interactive Girls Football experience.
The programme, travelling around England, is a joint initiative by The FA and Continental Tyres. It provides girls aged 5-17 with an exciting, interactive football experience for both those new to the game and regular players.
The format of the day is fun and active, combining football, lifestyle and music. The festival is led by FA approved coaches and includes skills and drills, interactive games and mini matches. There will also be a Female Referee Ambassador present, Lucy May, to deliver practical mini whistler activities.
An interactive trailer that houses trophies and digital stations to entertain girls during intervals and a range of innovative equipment including inflatable pitch, target shots, speed cage and batak boards will feature, as well as hair braiding and face painting to add to the festival atmosphere.
In addition, The FA is offering coaches across the county the chance to get involved in an exciting new coaching tool - The ContiWarmUp Programme. The free web based programme endorsed by The FA, is designed to optimise performance and minimise injury. Coaches are invited to find out more about the online resource, take part in a 30 minute ContiWarmUp demonstration and discuss the benefits of warming up with an expert Continental Tyres Coach in a question and answer session.
Coaches can apply by contacting contiwarmup@sportcel.com. They are required to hold a minimum current FA Level 1 coaching badge and an FA CRB.
