Belles and Everton share spoils
 Women's Football News 8 Sep 2013

Doncaster Rovers Belles 1 (Little 65) Everton 1 (Duggan 44)
Leandra Little scored a second half equaliser as Doncaster Rovers Belles came from behind to secure a point at home to Everton in a 1-1 draw.

Jess Sigsworth went close for the home side early on, firing narrowly wide. Katie Brusell also threatened for the hosts with a 20-yard effort which was not far off target and Sue Smith also tried a curling shot from distance which was saved by Megan Walsh.

Millie Bright almost found a way through for the Belles just after the half hour mark with Lindsay Johnson forced to make a crucial interception in the area. The resulting corner saw Rhiannon Roberts head just wide. As Doncaster continued to press, Little volleyed inches wide and then hit a post.

Everton took the lead, against the run of play, in the final minute of the half when Toni Dugganıs effort took a deflection off a defender.

Doncaster's continued pressure was finally rewarded after the break when Little equalised with a header from Smithıs cross.

Home keeper Nicola Davies made a fine save to keep out Dugganıs shot and the score all square. Naomi Chadwick, on as a late substitute, went close to snatching a stoppage time winner for the Belles with a glancing header which brushed the outside of a post. Everton substitute Simone Magill then missed a sitter, firing over from just a couple of yards out.

The result means the Belles are just a point behind seventh placed Lincoln Ladies.
