After just over twelve months of waiting, we finally get to play a competitive match when we play Belarus in our opening World Cup qualifying group match.
Our last one was against Scotland in the Euro 2013 qualifiers and it is really good to be back playing competitive football for Wales again. Nothing beats international football.
I think it is absolutely vital that we get off with the best possible start and that means picking up three points. We felt our start cost us in the last campaign and don't want that to happen again.
Personally, I do not have any experience of playing Belarus at any level before, but our Under-19s played them last week and lost 1-0 so we certainly won't be taking them for granted, even after they lost their opening game heavily.
Thursday's match will be a big occasion for all of us as we shall be playing at the Cardiff City Stadium for the first time. I feel that us playing at the stadium is a great step for women's football in Wales, it's a great stadium and one we are looking forward to playing in.
Recently we warmed up for this match with a 3-2 win in Estonia, a friendly which was vital for us and a great win. It showed the importance of the camp with the way the game went as we need to get back into international football as a group and remember what our principles are. A lot of positives were taken from the game, as well as things to learn from.
The Estonia match was a little bit of a game of two halves. We had a great first half after a slow start, but you have to credit Estonia as they came out in the second half and really took the game to us. We had a sloppy five minutes and conceded two poor goals, which we are disappointed with, but then got back on top and I feel we deserved the winning goal.
Looking ahead to our World Cup group in general, we want to qualify, that is our aim. It's a tough aim, but realistic I believe. We have to be at our best at all times and that is our challenge, but one we are all looking forward to.
