We talk to...Jamillah Palmer (Wolverhampton Wanderers) - 27 Sep 2013 - Women's Football NewsWolverhampton Wanderers picked up their first victory of the new season when they defeated last season's beaten finalists Leeds Utd 4-3 in their opening Premier League Cup group match.

Wolves winger Jamillah Palmer, who scored two of her team's goals, tells us about the significance of their win and how it can help them for the remainder of the season as they bid to climb off the bottom of the Northern Division table:

After the start to the season you have had in the league, just how important was it to win this game?
It was very important to win our first game, I think we just needed a win under our belts to get us going and it can only do us good.

Do you think that the win will increase the team's confidence and self belief?
Yes, it's good to get a win because that will give us more confidence and it has shown us that we are a good enough team. I think we can build on this and progress from here.

Did you feel it was a deserved victory overall?
With our hard work and the effort that we have put in during the past weeks, it was a well deserved victory for us.

Natalie Hall made a number of good saves during the game, how crucial was her performance on the day?
It was very crucial! She was amazing in the game, she kept us in it when we needed it most with some great saves.

After getting the first win, is it a little frustrating that Wolves don't have a game this Sunday?
It's very frustrating because we have a win under our belts and we have got ourselves going. [Wolves are the odd team out in this week's fixture list and don't play] Sunday felt like our season has actually started.

Looking at the league results so far, do you feel that the team has played better than results show or are they accurate?
We have played a lot better than the results we've picked up would suggest, but we just lack our final end product.

How big a blow was it to the team that Becky Hall is out with a long term injury?
It's a massive blow to the team, she was our playmaker! Hopefully she will be back playing with us again as soon as possible.

Are you confident that league results will improve and that Wolves can start climbing the table?
With the football we are playing and the chemistry in the team, I think we will finish higher in the table then we did last season.
