Reigning Champions Cardiff City FC are through to the quarter finals of the Welsh Premier Women's League Cup after winning 8-1 away to Northop Hall in their First Round tie.
Shanelle Edwards gave City and early lead which was doubled by Erin Murray, before Andrea Reece pulled a goal back for Northop. Hattie Powell restored the two-goal advantage on the half hour and then Murray went on to complete a great day for herself, sealing a hat-trick before half time and adding another two within ten minutes of the restart. Danielle Green rounded off the win for City with the eighth and final goal.
Cardiff Met Ladies also went through to the last eight with a 4-1 victory over league leaders PILCS. An own goal put Cardiff Met into a ninth minute lead with Emily Brown adding a second and although Lyndsey Davies halved the deficit for PILCS, Brown completed a brace from the penalty spot during the second half and Hannah Billingham joined her on the scoresheet.
Swansea City meanwhile kept up their good start to the season by scoring six without reply against Wrexham. Lindsay Morgan opened the scoring for the Swans on eight minutes with Rachel Rowe putting them further ahead before half time. The third came via a Kate Edwards own goal midway through the second half and Swansea netted three times in the last six minutes, Rowe completing her hat-trick with strikes in quick succession and Emma Beynon scoring the final goal deep into injury time.
