Hibernian and Glasgow City in Final
 Women's Football News 6 Oct 2013
Hibernian and Glasgow City in Final - 6 Oct 2013 - Women's Football NewsHibernian and Glasgow City both progressed to the Scottish Cup Final after wins over Rangers and Celtic respectively ensured their place at the showpiece final on Sunday 17th November at Broadwood Stadium.
The Capital side were the first to book their place in the final after defeating Rangers 5-4 on penalties after the match finished 1-1 after extra time. Rachel Walkingshaw gave the Hibees the lead nine minutes into the second half, before Rangers striker Lisa Swanson headed home the equaliser on 72 minutes. Hibs almost sneaked victory right on full time, but were denied by the post and then bar in a goalmouth scramble. Extra time ensued, but neither side could find the breakthrough in what was a very tight match of few chances for either side.
Penalties is always a lottery and unfortunately for Rangers, young Sophie Riley had her shot saved by Hibs keeper Shannon Lynn and that proved to be decisive moment and Hibs progressed into the final.
Glasgow City and Celtic then took to the field, with City finishing 3-0 winners thanks to goals from Jo Love, Suzanne Mulvey and Suzanne Lappin.
City took the lead on 22 minutes with a wonderful strike from midfielder Jo Love who fired into the top corner from 25 yards out. It was a strike of real quality from the City and Scotland star and gave City the lead their early pressure deserved.
City got a second on 73 minutes when a great ball from Suzanne Lappin sent Suzanne Mulvey through on goal and the City striker shot expertly past the outrushing Gemma Fay into the bottom corner to give her side a two-goal cushion.
The Cup holders finished off a fine performance when Lappin netted with moments to go after being set up by Ruesha Littlejohn.
