Sheffield FC are back on top of the Northern Division following their 7-1 victory over Newcastle Utd on Sunday.
The Yorkshire side never looked back after netting three times leading up to half time. Leanne De Silva gave them a 34th minute from the penalty spot and she added a second, also a penalty, with Krystle Johnston also getting on the scoresheet before the interval. Jodie Michalska increased their lead in the opening minute of the second half and Johnston added two more to complete her hat-trick, either side of an Abbie McManus goal, before Claire Pitt grabbed a late consolation for the Magpies.
After an anxious week when their existence was threatened, Nottingham Forest finished it off in style with a 4-0 win away to local rivals Derby County. Kirsty Allen opened the scoring and Amber Hughes ensured they were two ahead midway through the first half. After the break, Hughes netted her second and two minutes later, Megan Howard rounded off the win with the fourth goal to take Forest up to second, one point off the pace.
Stoke City are in third place after they ran out 4-1 winners at Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are still searching for their first victory. Dani Selmes did hit the bar for Wolves early on and it was Cassie Hyde who gave Stoke the lead on 24 minutes, Chantelle Gallagher adding a further two before half time. Hannah Keryakoplis netted Stoke's fourth midway through the second half with Lauren Williams scoring for Wolves in injury time.
