Chelsea's Yuki Ogimi has been named on the shortlist for the FIFA Women's World Player of the Year award.
The winner, which will be decided by the captains and head coaches of the women's national teams, as well as by international media representatives selected by FIFA, will be announced at the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony on 13 January 2014.
Yuki, the first Japanese player to move to the FA Women's Super League, signed for Chelsea from German side FFC Turbine Potsdam in July and enjoyed a productive debut season with Emma Hayes' side.
The striker was part of the Japan team that won the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2011 with a penalty shootout victory over the USA, which she followed up a year later with an Olympic silver medal. More recently, Ogimi opened the scoring for Japan in their 2-0 friendly win over Nigeria last month in Nagasaki.
