St Nicholas v Basingstoke Town
 Women's Football News 2 Nov 2013

F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
St Nicholas eased through with the highest score of the round, Amy Jefferies leading the scoring with a hat-trick as the Chipping Sodbury-based side netted eleven without reply against Southampton Women to set up another home tie against Southern Region League side Basingstoke Town.

Basingstoke Town Ladies were first formed in 1992. The team gained promotion to the First Division of the HCWL by finishing as Division 2 champions at the end of the 2006-07 season, and also winning the Hampshire FA Intermediate Cup. The First team finished the 2007-08 season (their first in the top division) in an impressive second place, nearly clinching the title, and having a spell where they were unbeaten in 22 months of league competition. They also turned the tables in their third successive North Hampshire Cup Final to beat local rivals Andover New Street 2-1.

The first team gained promotion into the Southern Region League First Division at the end of the 2009-10 season, and gained further promotion into the Premier Division and won the North Hants cup at the end of the 2011-12 season.

The following season brought in further new management in the team of Chris Lyons (Manager) and Craig Prall (Assistant Manager). Along with coaches Stewart Hayes and Al Gardner, their combined coaching and management experience have guided the club to a standard where they compete strongly in the Southern Region Premier League and once again we retained the North Hants Cup Trophy.

At present the team sits in mid-table in the Premier Division and have beaten Andover New Street and Downend Flyers in their cup run so far, both 1-0. The team is captained by Michelle Kimber and Lianne Hill is leading scorer, with Lindsey Beverley another regular on the scoresheet.
