Second leg a sell out
 Women's Football News 13 Nov 2013
Glasgow City will host European giants Arsenal in the second leg of the last 16 of the UEFA Women's Champions League in front of a sell out crowd at Petershil Park.
Despite City having lost 3-0 in the away leg last Saturday against the side who are third seeds for the competition overall, the interest in Glasgow City and this match in particular has not dampened with the all ticket match now a complete sell out, the first of its kind for a women's football game in Scotland.
Glasgow City also learned today that they have been shortlisted for Team of the Year in the Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards, due to be held in Glasgow in December, a timely boost ahead of their biggest match of the season.
Commenting on the game and the nomination, Glasgow City Club Manager Laura Montgomery said: "The growing interest in our club has been fantastic. Every week we see our attendances rise and to have pre-sold all tickets ahead of this match is hopefully a massive step in the right direction, not just for Glasgow City, but also for women's football in Scotland in general.
"There is no doubt we face a tough task to turn this tie around and Arsenal were not 17-2 favourites with the bookies to win last Saturday for nothing. They are an extremely talented side with far greater resources than ourselves, but hopefully we are gradually showing that we can begin to compete with some of the finest teams in Europe and have got to the last 16 on merit. The girls are looking to put in a strong performance and ensure the sold out stadium get a match to saviour and hopefully enjoy it enough to come to the Cup Final on Sunday when we go for the treble or return next season, when we hopefully do it all over again. Season tickets are already selling ahead of 2014, which is great news for the whole club.
"To be shortlisted for Team of the Year at the national sports awards is a tremendous honour, especially given we are up against all teams and all sports the length and breadth of the country. Hopefully it can be the perfect boost to the players who work so hard to compete at the highest level possible and give them the inspiration to give their all on Wednesday night and perhaps just pull off the impossible."
