Gillingham eased into the knockout stages of the Premier League Cup on the back of a 3-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion with goals from Emma Tune, Jade Keogh and Lisa Fulgence (see match report). The Gills will finish as Group One winners whilst in the other game, Tottenham Hotspur ran out 5-1 winners over Chesham Utd. Wendy Martin, Andrea Maroci, Amy Cooper, Ellana Moseley and Rosie Kmita were all on target for Spurs with Gemma Fraser replying.
Cardiff City Ladies beat West Ham Utd 5-3 to move to top spot in Group Three on goal difference. Lauren Townsend gave Cardiff an early lead before two Cherrelle Albert goals ensured that the Hammers were ahead at half time. Nicola Cousins and Nadia Lawrence each scored twice in the second half to see Cardiff to victory, with Kelley Blanchflower grabbing a consolation for West Ham.
Preston North End are the winners of Group Five following their 4-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Sophie Jones and Paige Forster put Preston two ahead midway through the first half, before goals either side of the interval from Dominique Luke and Dani Selmes brought Wolves back on level terms. Becky Grocott immediately restored Preston's lead and Keeleigh Savage scored a decisive fourth with twenty minutes remaining.
Sheffield FC guaranteed themselves top spot in Group Six by winning 5-1 away to Blackburn Rovers. Rio Hardy did give Blackburn a tenth minute lead but two strikes from Lisa Giampalma and an own goal turned the match around in Sheffield's favour before the quarter hour. Krystle Johnston added a fourth just before half time and Ellie Gilliatt rounded off the win with the final goal in injury time.
In Group Seven, Stoke City put themselves in the driving seat after they defeated Newcastle Utd 3-0.
