Whitley Bay added to the list of Combination League scalps in the F.A.Women's Cup Third Round Qualifying when they eliminated Leeds City Vixens on penalties following a 2-2 draw.
Steph Ord and Katie Barnes were both on target for Whitley as they twice came from behind before triumphing 3-1 in the penalty shootout following extra time. The win has earned them a home tie against fellow North East League side Brighouse Town in the First Round.
Northern Combination leaders Stockport County are out of the competition, beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield Town in one of the ties of the round. It was the third time the sides had met in as many matches, with one win apiece, and things were tight as the match was goalless after ninety minutes. Captain Kate Mallin was the Huddersfield heroine in extra time as she netted both her side's goals including the winner from the penalty spot with two minutes remaining. Huddersfield are now away to either Chorley or Morecambe whose meeting was postponed for a second time because of a waterlogged pitch.
Middlesbrough meanwhile survived an awkward trip to North East League Northern Division high fliers Tynedale and made it safely through with a 6-2 victory. Emily Scott, Danielle Scarr, Jenni Duffy, Sarah Manning, Ebony Housam and Nicky Duckling all scored a goal apiece for 'Boro who will be hosting Sheffield Utd Community in the First Round.
The last County League side were eliminated as Boldon went down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Peterlee St Francis. Peterlee booked themselves a trip to Liverpool Feds courtesy of goals from Jen Alford, Jess Clark and Lucy Garrington.
