Newcastle Utd took top spot in Group One in the Reserve Section League Cup on goal difference following an 8-1 victory over Sheffield Utd Community. Laureen Driver led the scoring for Newcastle with a hat-trick and she was joined on the scoresheet by Natalie Atkinson, Amy Perch, Claire Pitt, Rachel Vassallo and Siobhan Jones with Hannah Crossley replying. Sheffield FC have to settle for second place despite winning 3-1 away to Leeds Utd with goals from Jess Heald (2) and Magan Hill.
Bradford City confirmed themselves as winners of Group Three by beating Stoke City 5-0. Melanie Garside-Wight bagged a hat-trick for City along with one apiece from Katy Woodcock and Molly-Mae Sharp. Wolverhampton Wanderers finish second after goals from Francesca Waltho, Louise Price, Jade Hewitt and Chloe Dodd gave them a 4-0 success away to Huddersfield Town.
Group Six shaped up for a tight finish on Sunday and it was Coventry City who ended up as winners following a 6-1 victory against Leicester City Women. Karen Clough hit a hat-trick with Cherelle Archibald, Katy Male and Sami Ryder also on target. In the other game, Loughborough Students netted five without reply past Leicester City Ladies.
The FA WSL Development League Cup played its second round of matches and it is Reading FC Women who lead the way in Group One after beating London Bees 4-1 thanks to a Lois Roche brace, Lauren Bruton and Francesca Kirby. They head the table on goals scored from Arsenal who were 5-0 victors at Watford, Carla Humphrey and Caroline Weir each scored twice with Taome Oliver adding the other. Chelsea are level on points with Millwall Lionesses after defeating them 3-0.
Emily Hollinshead (2) and Lucy Whipp scored the goals as Everton won 3-1 away to Sunderland to assume the leadership of Group Two from Liverpool who beat Durham WFC 6-2. Shannon Beckwith, Beth Donoghue, Ellie Stewart, Claudia Walker, Megan Alexander and Ashley Hodson all scored a goal each for the Reds. Doncaster Rovers Belles and Manchester City finished level at 2-2, Caroline Ward and Alice Hey giving City a two-goal lead before Molly Johnson and Lauren Cresswell replied to earn the Belles a share of the spoils.
Birmingham City have a lead of two points in Group Three following their 2-1 win at Oxford Utd, given to them by Georgia Jones and Coral Haines. Beth Merrick bagged a hat-trick and Natasha Baptiste the other as Aston Villa defeated Yeovil Town 4-1 to go second, just ahead of Notts County who were 1-0 winners away to Bristol Academy, Sophie Haywood scoring the only goal of the game.
