After knocking out Southampton Saints in the previous round, Gloucester City are relishing the chance to take on more Combination opposition in the F.A.Women's Cup First Round this Sunday when they take on Chichester City.
The team as a whole are doing well this season, currently competing in the Eastern Division of the South West League and are getting some good results. Last week they reached the quarter finals of the County Cup after knocking out St Nicholas in a penalty shootout, as well as getting into the First Round of the FA Cup - a feat which they have only managed to do once before.
City captain Helen Wood said: ''I am looking forward to playing Chichester as I missed the last couple of rounds through injury. We knocked out higher opposition in Southampton Saints last time so I am looking for an upset in this round. If we do manage to progress, hopefully we will be lucky enough to draw a home game against a top team.''
Laura Green added: ''I am looking forward to the challenge of playing someone in the league we used to be in. It's a good test to see how far we have come since having to drop two leagues due to a lack of players in the squad. It's going to be a hard game but if we show the spirit and play the attacking football we have shown glimpses of in earlier rounds, we could stand a chance.''
''We are on a good run in the league which gives us a positive attitude leading into this game," said Emma Hart. "Although they are two leagues above us, you can never rule us out. We've settled as a club now and are back to playing football for enjoyment as well as competition.''
