Forest Green Rovers v St Nicholas
 Women's Football News 30 Nov 2013

F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
St Nicholas continued their Cup run with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Basingstoke Town to reach the First Round for the first time. They will make the short trip to play Forest Green Rovers who made it through with an impressive 3-0 win over Swindon Town at the County Ground.

Forest Green Ladies FC was formed in 2002, from the former Chalford Ladies FC, and since that time has steadily improved and expanded, both on and off the pitch, to such an extent that they are currently the leading female club in the county of Gloucestershire.

They won promotion to the South West Combination in 2006 by winning the South West Women's League and have remained there ever since, They have finished in the top half in each of the last five seasons and in 2011-12 they were runners-up to Yeovil Town, their best season to date.

They currently run two senior teams, the first team in the South West Combination and the Reserves in the South West League, as well as Under-16 and Under-14 teams who compete in local leagues, and a development Under-12 team that are new this season.

Phil Orsborn is the club manager and Ashton Herbert is Goalkeeping Coach. Jodie Shepherd will wear the captain's armband in place of Rosie Bidder who is unavailable. Charlotte King and Abbie Sadler have Premier League experience with Bristol City but stalwart midfielder Kirsty Richardson has not yet returned after giving birth recently. Sarah Stacey is leading scorer and winger Ella Hitchcox has been in good form, while Hannah Hale and Sammy Hallsworth are two promising youngsters who have broken into the side.

The match will be played at Slimbridge and Forest Green will start as favourites, although St Nicholas should approach the match with confidence following their recent run of wins.
