Sheffield FC maintained their lead of four points at the top of the Northern Division by defeating Preston North End 3-1.
The league leaders scored twice in the opening six minutes through Issy Hayes and Lynn Goodman, with Hayes adding her second ahead of half time. Preston, who remain in fourth, grabbed a consolation with a Sophie Jones goal.
Nottingham Forest stay in second place after notching up a 3-0 victory away to Leeds Utd. Amber Hughes opened the scoring for Forest on 19 minutes when she finished off a good counter attacking move and Megan Howard added the second early in the second half. Hughes rounded off the scoring when she completed her double, taking her league tally to nine goals for the season.
Third placed Stoke City put some distance between themselves and the teams below them by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1. After Laura Garside had put Stoke ahead early on, Jamillah Palmer levelled the scores for Wolves but two late strikes from Chantelle Gallagher sewed up the points for Stoke and saw Wolves lose further ground at the foot of the table.
Bradford City are heading towards a mid-table position as they made it two wins on the trot with a 4-0 success at Newcastle Utd. Sarah Danby kept up her good form in front of goal by scoring twice in a five-minute spell to put Bradford two up by the half hour and Becky Kendell added a third on the stroke of half time. Chantelle O'Hara rounded off a great win for City with the final goal, five minutes from time.
Blackburn Rovers moved out of the bottom three with an important 1-0 win over Sporting Club Albion. Katie Anderton scored the only goal of the game, midway through the second half, to give Rovers their third victory of the season.
