Manchester City have further strengthened their squad for next season in the FA WSL with the signing of England international Steph Houghton from Arsenal.
After a three-year spell with the Gunners which ended with her leading the side to F.A.Women's Cup and Continental Cup triumphs this year, Steph Houghton will join City on a three-year deal on New Year's Day.
After first coming to prominence with her local club Sunderland, Steph helped guide them into the National Division before making the move to Leeds Utd in 2007. During her time with the club, she helped them win the Premier League Cup in 2010 and two years earlier she won the FA Young Player of the Year award.
She moved on to Arsenal and the newly formed FA WSL and won a total of seven major honours in three years, as well as appearing in two UEFA Women's Champions League semi finals.
Steph also became a household name last year when scoring three times for Team GB in the Olympic Games, including the winning goal against Brazil at Wembley. Having twice missed out on major international tournaments due to serious injuries, the 25-year-old has represented England in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup and Euro 2013 Finals.
