Gillingham saw their unbeaten start to the season in the Southern Division come to an end as they were beaten 3-1 by Lewes.
The Rookettes had been beaten by Chesham Utd seven days earlier but in an entertaining game at the Dripping Pan, they stunned the league leaders as Ashleigh Goddard gave them a fourth minute lead with Naomi Cole and Kelly Newton adding further goals after the break. Gillingham did not give up and after leading scorer Charlotte Gurr missed a penalty, Nikita Whinnett grabbed a late consolation.
West Ham Utd meanwhile put an end to their worrying run of seven matches without a win by defeating Chesham Utd 3-1. Cherrelle Albert scored twice inside the opening fourteen minutes and after Dawne Campbell had given Chesham hope by pulling a goal back just after the hour, Becky Merritt secured the points for the Hammers late on.
