Lady Mayor boosts Forest fundraiser
 Women's Football News 16 Dec 2013
Lady Mayor boosts Forest fundraiser - 16 Dec 2013 - Women's Football NewsNottingham Forest's efforts to raise much needed funds were boosted recently due to preparation and planning for their 'Every Penny Counts' Fundraising event held recently at the John Godber Centre in Hucknall.
The event attracted 150 of its members on the night but contributions from members, supporters and sponsors before the event culminated in amassing a total of £3,274.
The evening was enhanced with the presence of Merlita Bryan, the Lord Mayor of Nottingham whom hosted the raffle and went on to mix with all those in attendance.
Whilst it was a club effort to progress the event organiser, Amanda Thorley (Under-10s Manager) was pivotal in the success of the evening. Amanda reflected: "On behalf of Forest Ladies I have to thank everyone who has contributed to supplying prizes, selling raffle tickets, event tickets and donations. I'd also like to thank the John Godber Centre for the free hire of the room and staff for the event alongside our DJ, Danny Charles who offered his services free of charge.
"Forest Ladies has been running for 23 years since the 1990-91 season and has offered so much to so many in the community. The funds raised will contribute to maintaining their status for this year and it has been a pleasure to help."
Forest Ladies has nine teams from Under-9s to the Seniors and also co-runs the Radford Girls Footy Project. The amount raised for this event will afford the club further breathing space to survive until the latter part of the season and will help cover pitch hire and some training facility costs. The club are continuing their fundraising with help from the West Bridgford Branch of Marks and Spencer on Saturday 21st December who are allowing club members to garner donation in a bag packing event. All proceeds will be fully utilised to secure status for this season whilst planning for a sustainable future in the process.
