Sheffield FC lifted themselves to within a single point of Northern Division table toppers Bradford City with a 4-3 victory over Huddersfield Town. Amy Beanland and Carla Ward each scored twice for Sheffield, with Huddersfield replying through Alice Linsell, Abbie Mullen and Alarna Fuller. Meanwhile Dayna Randall led the scoring with a hat-trick as Derby County defeated Leeds Utd 3-0.
In the Midland Division, Wolverhampton Wanderers were unable to take an opportunity to return to the top of the table when they went down to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City Women. Coventry City meanwhile moved themselves level on points with Wolves, three points off the pace, after goals from Cherelle Archibald, Grace Teah and Sami Ryder earned them a 3-2 win away to Leicester City Ladies.
Tottenham Hotspur eased to their first victory of the season in the Southern Division when they beat West Ham Utd 3-0.
The final group match in the Reserve Section League Cup was finally played on Sunday when Cardiff City Ladies ran out 8-0 winners over Portsmouth, securing themselves top spot in Group Five. Cardiff will therefore take on Coventry City in the quarter finals with the other outstanding tie being between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City Women.
The winners of those respective ties will play each other in the semi finals, having joined Bradford City and Nottingham Forest in the last four.
