Casey rejoins Arsenal
 Women's Football News 3 Jan 2014
Casey rejoins Arsenal - 3 Jan 2014 - Women's Football NewsEngland captain Casey Stoney has re-signed for Arsenal Ladies.
The 31-year-old defender, who began her career with the Gunners in 1999, has since enjoyed successful spells with Charlton Athletic, Chelsea and Lincoln.
An experienced England international, with 116 caps to her name, Stoney was appointed the Three Lions' captain in May 2012. She was also given the armband for Team GB at London 2012, leading the side to victory over Brazil in front of 70,000 supporters at Wembley.
With the recent signing of England keeper Siobhan Chamberlain, Stoney's arrival will further strengthen an Arsenal defence that conceded just 11 goals in the Super League last term - the lowest in the division.
Arsenal Ladies General Manager Vic Akers told www.arsenal.com: "We're delighted to be welcoming Casey back to the Club. She's one of the finest defenders in the women's game at the moment and she'll bring fantastic experience to our team. We already have an excellent defensive unit here, and adding the England captain will only serve to strengthen that further."
Stoney added: "It's a great feeling to be coming back to Arsenal Ladies. They're a team with a fantastic tradition, and it's where I started out so it's a special move for me. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to preparations for the 2014 campaign."
