Two first half goals saw Derby County record a 2-0 victory over Newcastle Utd which takes them into the Third Round of the F.A.Women's Cup.
The tie had been switched to St George's Park due to the weather and it was Derby who took the lead after nine minutes when Hannah Ward broke through to score. Derby goalkeeper Sarah Morgan saved a penalty to keep her side in front and shortly afterwards, Paige Crossman headed in the second goal from a corner.
After the break, Newcastle worked hard to try and get back in the game but Morgan was in great form while Natalie Henderson and Elizabeth Fraser both hit the bar. Derby saw the game out and will travel to play Crystal Palace in the next round.
Middlesbrough also went through by running out 4-0 winners over Tranmere Rovers. Goals from Emily Scott, Sarah Manning, Jenny Duffy and Kenzie Parkes helped end the hopes of their fellow Northern Combination side and earn 'Boro a Third Round trip to Blackburn Rovers.
Charlton Athletic were the other winners on the day, two strikes from Charley Clifford and a Kit Graham goal giving them a 3-0 victory over Milton Keynes Dons (see match report). Charlton will now host either Sheffield FC or Liverpool Feds.
