Northop Hall Girls FC have informed the Welsh Premier Women's League panel that they are withdrawing from the League with immediate effect.
The club have struggled to attract senior players all season and felt that it would be unfair to continue until the end of the campaign with a depleted side. They have taken this difficult decision sooner rather than later to protect the integrity of the League.
All of Northop Hall's results this season will be expunged and obviously all remaining matches will be cancelled. This will also mean that only one club will be relegated from the Shared Access WPWL at the end of this season.
Elain Owen, first team manager, commented: "Making the decision at this point hopefully brings less disruption to the League and the Club as a whole. In the short term it may not be a positive outcome, however continuing would have had a more detrimental effect upon all.
"Having a high standard women's league within Wales is a great achievement and something which every player should aim to be a part of. We wish all clubs every success for the remainder of the season."
