Bradford City v Cardiff City Ladies
 Women's Football News 22 Feb 2014
F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Cardiff City Ladies ended the Cup run of St Nicholas last month with a 3-0 victory, goals coming from Kelly Isaac, Naomi Clipston and Beth Lloyd. Cardiff only discovered their Third Round opponents last week when, at the seventh time of asking, Bradford City defeated Blackpool Wren Rovers 7-0 with goals from Sarah Danby (2), Rachel Lee, Abby Hunt, Charlotte Stuart, Rebecca Kendell and Molly-Mae Sharpe.
Bradford City WFC was formed in 1988 after linking up with local youth centres already involved in training girls. The club became founder members of the Yorkshire & Humberside League the following year, winning promotion from Division Two. In 1996 they won the league title as well as the Knockout Cup and Yorkshire Cup, going on to be promoted to the FA Women's Premier League a year later.
In 1998, the club reached the FA Women's Cup quarter finals and Premier League Cup semi finals but were relegated from the Premier League soon afterwards. Fortunes began to improve after a few difficult years and they won the North East League in 2007. After finishing third in the Northern Combination last season, they were promoted back into the Premier League where they currently compete in the Northern Division.
The team is managed by Steve Winterburn with Faye Boshell as captain and, after taking a little time to adjust back to Premier League life, picked up some good results including a 2-1 win over title chasing Nottingham Forest. The many postponements mean that they have not played a league match since December but they have also done well in the Premier League Cup and are set to play Sheffield FC in the quarter finals next month.
The signing of Sarah Danby has proved to be a shrewd one and she is currently the club's leading goalscorer and Caroline Omboyi has been a regular on the scoresheet in recent seasons. The likes of Charlotte Stuart, Emma Dobson, Aimee Driver, Chantelle O'Hara, Bridie Hannon and Carrie Simpson have all been regulars this season.
Off the field, Sally Thackray undertakes the role of Chair and Secretary while Jo Woodcock is Fundraising Officer. Jess Pearson and Charlotte Stuart occupy the positions of Player Liaison Officer and Football Development Officer respectively.
Thackley AFC will host an interesting tie between two clubs who will be more than satisfied with their seasons so far in all competitions. The winners will be at home in the Fourth Round to either Leeds Utd or London Bees.
