Durham WFC are delighted to announce that Rob Atkin has been appointed as the club's Head Coach.
A UEFA 'A' licence coach, he brings a wealth of development experience as the club begins life in the FA WSL.
Atkin has a strong background in football having previously served at a number of clubs including the setting up of and leading as head coach of Newcastle United for ten years. A football development officer for Newcastle City council for 22 years, he also served as Centre Director at the first Newcastle Girls Centre of Excellence
He said: "I'm really looking forward to working with everyone at the club; the potential to become a well established club in the WSL is there for all to see and I can't wait to be a part of the exciting challenge ahead.
General Manager, Lee Sanders welcomed Rob to the club, saying: "I am delighted Rob has agreed to join the team at Durham Women FC. I approached him recently and it's obvious he has a wealth of experience we can all draw on, myself, the coaching staff and all the players. He has an infectious bubbly attitude to go with that experience and i look forward to building on what we have already at the club as well as the long term development plans for our youth system."
