Spartans edged out Rangers to reach the quarter finals of the Scottish Women's Premier League Cup on Sunday.
The Edinburgh side, who have a good record in the competition in recent seasons, came away with a 1-0 victory under their belts, given to them by a second half penalty from Lana Clelland.
Hibernian had a much more comfortable passage as they scored twelve without reply against Hutchison Vale. Lizzie Arnot and Lucy Graham each bagged hat-tricks and Hibs' other markswomen were Caroline Heron, Elliss Jenkins, Kirsty Smith, Siobhan Hunter, Katey Turner and Clare Williamson.
Aberdeen are also through to the last eight following a 3-2 success away to Inverness City, who are making their return to the top flight after a year away. Rachael Small gave them the lead from the penalty spot before further strikes from Chloe Fitzpatrick and Cassie Cowper proved to be enough to give them victory.
