With Northern Division table toppers Sheffield FC on F.A.Women's Cup duty, Nottingham Forest took the opportunity to close the gap on them to seven points by winning 3-0 away to Sporting Club Albion.
Natasha Meade got Forest off to a good start when she gave them the lead after ten minutes but it wasn't until the second half that they were able to seal the points. Amber Hughes doubled their advantage just after the hour mark with her eleventh league goal of the season and Grace Abbott rounded off the scoring.
Stoke City stay third but their chances of a top two finish took a huge knock as they went down to a 4-2 defeat at home to Bradford City. Molly-Mae Sharpe, Faye Boshell, Charlotte Stuart and Chantelle O'Hara scored the goals which take Bradford out of the bottom three places.
Derby County meanwhile returned to form with a bang by beating Newcastle Utd 4-0. Derby never looked back after scoring three times in the five minute spell before half time and they went on to wrap up the win with doubles from Natalie Reay and Hannah Ward.
Wolverhampton Wanderers picked up another important point from a 1-1 draw with Leeds Utd. Both of the goals came early on, Dani Selmes kept up her recent good form by giving Wolves a fourth minute lead, with Danielle Whitham hitting back for Leeds five minutes later.
