Cardiff Met maintain lead
 Women's Football News 24 Mar 2014
Cardiff Met Ladies were narrow 2-1 winners as they met Swansea City in a dress rehearsal for the forthcoming FAW Women's Cup Final.
The meeting was an important one in the Shared Access Welsh Premier Women's League and the result keeps the university side ten points clear at the top of the table. Ellie Sargent netted a goal in each half to earn Cardiff Met the result despite an Abbie Morrissey own goal gave Swansea late hope.
Cardiff City FC stay in second place after they also recorded a 2-1 victory against Wrexham. Danielle Broadhurst gave City the lead in the second minute and although Ashley Hayes equalised midway through the first half, Hannah Lewis settled matters with the winning goal just before half time.
PILCS kept themselves in the running with a 4-0 success away to Port Talbot Town. Lyndsey Davies opened the scoring on seventeen minutes and midway through the second half, two goals in the space of a minute put the match firmly in PILCS' favour. First, Davies grabbed her second goal and then moments later Shauna Pentney put her side three goals ahead. Kate Jeremiah wrapped up the win for PILCS with the final goal, five minutes from time.
Llanidloes warmed up for this week's League Cup Final by sharing a 2-2 draw with Llandudno Junction. It was Llandudno who took the lead in the third minute through Sofie Owen, with Nia Davies levelling from the penalty spot just after the half hour. Owen scored her second on the hour mark but Llandudno's lead lasted for just seven further minutes, until Jemma Lloyd ensured her side picked up a point.
The two sides at the foot of the table met each other in a vital clash and it is Aberystwyth Town who can breathe a little easier after beating Caernarfon Town 1-0. The match was settled in the twelfth minute when Kelly Thomas scored the only goal of the game for Aber.
