Sheffield FC need six more points from their final six games in order to maintain their hold on the Northern Division trophy.
Helen Mitchell's side followed up their midweek win over nearest rivals Nottingham Forest by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0. Ellie Gilliatt ensured that the league leaders were ahead at the break and they went on to seal the win with further goals from Leanne De Silva and Issy Hayes.
To complete a disappointing week for Forest, they went down to their second home defeat in four days as they were beaten 2-1 by Stoke City. Chantelle Gallagher netted both goals in the first half for Stoke, who enhanced their chances of a top two place, with Forest grabbing a late consolation through Kirsty Allen.
Sporting Club Albion held on to fourth place following their 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers, who are now out of the bottom two. Kayleigh Griffiths was on target for Albion whilst Keira Walsh netted for Blackburn for the second week in succession.
Preston North End leapfrogged back above Bradford City and back into fifth after defeating them 3-1. Preston got off to a great start with Keeleigh Savage netting twice inside the opening eight minutes and although Molly-Mae Sharp reduced the arrears for Bradford, the visitors went on to seal the points when Paige Forster scored the third just after the hour mark.
