Reading Women 3 (Kirby 38,89, Williams 62) Yeovil Town 0
Reading opened up the new FA WSL 2 season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Yeovil Town at the Madejski Stadium.
Yeovil should have gone ahead when a cross from left back Jade Kirby found an unmarked Stacey Pearson, but she tamely shot straight at Reading goalkeeper Nicky Davies.
The Royals then opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Francesca Kirby sublimely lobbed Yeovil goalkeeper Rachel Simkin, following a neat flick by Kirsty McGee.
The hosts doubled their lead on 62 minutes when Simkin's spill allowed Cheryl Williams to stroke the ball into an empty net, moments after she had another strike ruled offside.
Yeovil poured forward but were caught on the break moments from time, as Kirby calmly slotted her second to give her side a win in their Women's Super League debut.
