Bradford City have put themselves firmly in the running for the runners-up spot in the Northern Division following their 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Molly-Mae Sharp gave Bradford the lead just before the quarter hour mark and although Sophie Flynn equalised for Blackburn early in the second half, Bradford snatched victory with an injury time winner from Sarah Danby. The result also means that Blackburn remain at the foot of the table albeit with two games in hand on the teams immediately above them.
Bradford were in fact the only winners on the day as the other three games all ended in draws. This included Champions Sheffield FC who were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest, who continue to occupy second place in the table.
There were plenty of goals on offer at Stoke City though where the home side shared eight with Derby County. After Natasha Tezgel had given third placed Stoke an early lead, Chantelle Gallagher went on to hit a hat-trick with Hannah Ward netting twice in reply for Derby, along with Nikki Ledgister and Melissa Johnson.
Leeds Utd looked to be on their way towards three valuable points in their safety quest but were shattered as Preston North End staged a fightback to earn a 3-3 draw. Olivia Thackray and Hannah Campbell had put Leeds two ahead with Carly Bayley replying, before Zoe Roberts restored the two-goal advantage for Leeds on the hour. Keeleigh Savage renewed hopes for Preston with twelve minutes remaining and then Katie Anderton scored the equaliser for the Lancashire side.
