Bradford City now require four points from their final three games to take second place in the Northern Division after they defeated Sporting Club Albion 3-1.
Bradford got off to a flying start with Sarah Danby giving them the lead after two minutes and Molly-Mae Sharp quickly adding a second. Sharp completed her double midway through the second half with Summer Holmes grabbing a consolation for Albion.
Preston North End kept themselves in with an outside chance of runners-up by winning 2-1 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers. The home side were looking to pick up a win which would have guaranteed safety but it was Preston who led at the break through Katie Anderton, with Keeleigh Savage adding a second early in the second half. Dani Selmes pulled one back for Wolves but Preston held on for a win which moves them back up into fifth.
Blackburn Rovers meanwhile lifted themselves off the bottom with a much needed 3-2 victory over Derby County. Keira Walsh, Sophie Flynn and Nicola Emery scored the goals to help Blackburn take a huge stride towards survival.
