Gills get back on track
 Women's Football News 7 May 2014
Gillingham bounced back from defeat seven days earlier to beat Chesham Utd 8-0 and go four points clear at the top of the Southern Division.
Lisa Fulgence hit a hat-trick inside the opening nineteen minutes and Deanna Cooper emulated her feat by netting three times in fifteen second half minutes. Leading scorer Charlotte Gurr had also got on the scoresheet inbetween the two trebles and Jade Keogh rounded off the scoring for the Gills, ten minutes from time.
With Cardiff City Ladies on Premier League Cup Final duty, Coventry City took the opportunity to replace them in second place by defeating West Ham Utd 2-0. Both of the Sky Blues' goals came early on, an own goal giving them an early lead with Destiney Toussaint adding the second. Both Coventry and Cardiff still have a game in hand on leaders Gillingham.
Portsmouth can still win the league but may not be able to make up enough ground despite a 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic. Ellie Bloomfield put Pompey in front shortly before the break with Gemma Hillier wrapping up the points in injury time.
The honours in the South Coast derby went the way of Lewes, who won 2-1 away to Brighton & Hove Albion. The Seagulls did take the lead via a Charlotte Young penalty but in the second half, Kirstie Spice levelled the scores following good work by Kate McIntyre and Clare Trafford kept up her good recent goalscoring form as she grabbed the winner to secure a sixth place finish for the Rookettes.
