Swindon Town retained the Wiltshire County Women's Cup with a 7-1 victory over Wootton Bassett Town at Calne Town FC.
Wootton Bassett kicked off on as sunny afternoon but it was Swindon who almost got the first score when Amy Baker's shot beat the keeper but Jenny Gavin cleared the ball off the goal line.
The Town did find the net after three minutes when Michelle Rich ran onto a through ball from Beth Thompson to shoot low into the net. They doubled their score seven minutes later, Beth Thompson and Ellie Maynard combining well to create an opening for Rich to find the net again.
Swindon were enjoying the better of the play and Bassett keeper Sarah Humphries did well to hold Amy Baker's cross. Thompson then found an opening in the Bassett defence to score number three.
Humphries did well to push out Rich's shot but the ball fell to Sally Butterfield who coolly tapped it into the net. Meanwhile at the other end Town keeper Robyn Levett was well tested by Natasha Burson's shot from distance.
Within a minute of starting the second half Bassett pulled a goal back. Laura Jefferies' free kick was met by Samantha Wood who smashed it into the top corner of the net.
Chyna Collings played a neat ball in to Thompson whose shot was well saved by Humphries but in next Town attack, Humphries pushed Rich's shot on to the bar but Maynard was on hand to nod the rebound into the net.
In the 58th minute, Thompson headed in a Rich cross to further extend Swindon's lead. Bassett hit back and won a free kick just outside the area but Natasha Burson's shot was too high.
Four minutes from time, Town took their tally to seven when Thompson ran through the Bassett defence to score with a low drive and complete her hat-trick.
