The battle for the Southern Division title hotted up further on Sunday with leaders Gillingham moving ever closer with a 2-1 win away to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Seagulls led at half time through a goal from Paige Baker-Carroll but two minutes into the second half, Gillingham were level when Fliss Gibbons scored from close range. The game looked to be heading for a draw until two minutes from time when Lisa Fulgence scored the winner to take the Gills closer to the title.
Gillingham will be crowned as Champions if they beat second placed Coventry City this Sunday. The Sky Blues go into the game needing a victory themselves to keep their hopes alive whilst a draw would keep Cardiff City Ladies in the running.
Coventry City kept themselves well in contention by beating Portsmouth 4-0. All of the goals came in the second half, Nikki Miles putting the Sky Blues ahead three minutes after the restart and their lead was increased by Annabel Johnson, who scored her first league goal of the season. Hayley Ladd added the third and Destiney Toussaint rounded off a fine win for Coventry ahead of this week's crunch meeting.
Cardiff City Ladies put their Premier League Cup Final disappointment behind them to win 3-0 at West Ham Utd and stay in with a chance of finishing as Champions. Naomi Clipston gave Cardiff the lead and they went on to add further goals through Zoe Atkins and Michelle Green.
