The chase to finish runners-up in the Northern Division will go to the last game of the season after Bradford City defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0.
The match was played at Valley Parade and Bradford started well with Rachel Lee scoring twice to give them a two-goal lead at the interval. Sarah Danby added the third midway through the second half with Rosie McDonnell rounding off the scoring, seven minutes from time.
Bradford therefore move into second place in the table and need to avoid defeat in their final match with Preston North End this Sunday in order to claim the runners-up position, with Preston requiring a victory in order to finish above them.
Stoke City's chances of ending up in second came to an end as they were narrowly beaten 4-3 by Champions Sheffield FC. Jodie Michalska scored twice and Lisa Giampalma also found the net as Sheffield raced into a three-goal lead with just over half an hour played but Stoke hit back to reduce the arrears by half time via a brace from Laura Garside. Hannah Bailey completed the comeback midway through the second half when she levelled the scores but two minutes later, Issy Hayes scored a decisive goal to give Sheffield victory. Stoke will have to settle for a very creditable fifth place finish in their first season in the league whilst the win means that Sheffield will win the league by a margin of at least fifteen points.
