 Women's Football News 25 May 2014
Shelley Kerr steps down at Arsenal - 25 May 2014 - Women's Football NewsShelley Kerr will step down from her position as Arsenal manager after next weekend's FA Women's Cup Final against Everton.
The former Scotland Under-19 coach led the side to an FA Women's Cup and Continental Cup double in 2013, in her debut season with Arsenal. She will be looking to help secure an FA Cup and FA Women's Cup double for the club for the first time since 1998, in her final game in charge.
Kerr announced her decision to resign after the Ladies' 2-0 WSL defeat to Bristol Academy on Sunday - the team's third consecutive loss in the league. She told www.arsenal.com: "I've had a fantastic 16 months with Arsenal, but feel this is the right time to step aside.
"It's been a privilege to manage one of the leading sides in the women's game, and to work with so many talented players. I would like to thank the club for that opportunity, and hope to bring my spell with Arsenal to a successful close on Sunday, with the defence of the FA Cup."
The club will now begin the process of recruiting a new Arsenal manager and will make an announcement once an appointment has been made.
