Blackburn Rovers Football Club is delighted to announce that it has been successfully granted a licence to run an FA Girls' Centre of Excellence for the 2014-15 season.
The club has garnered a reputation for being one of the flagship Centres of Excellence in the country for good practice, having produced countless players that have gone on to play first team football and gain international recognition at youth level.
Last season, six players were selected for England duty, whilst no fewer than nine Centre of Excellence graduates made their debuts for Rovers Ladies including Keira Walsh, who was also a part of the England Under-17 team which finished in fourth place in the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship Finals in England last December. Last weekend, Rovers striker Natasha Fenton joined up with the England Under-17 squad for a training camp at St George's Park.
Rovers' Under-17s also enjoyed a season to remember, finishing as runners-up at the prestigious Dallas International Girls Cup and reaching the semi final stage of the FA Girls' Youth Cup.
The club is committed to developing and finding football's female stars of the future, with Centre of Excellence trials set to take place throughout June. Details can be found by logging on to www.rovers.co.uk.
