London FA ran a Female-Only Referee course for 14 women during the May half term at Meridian Sports & Social Club in Greenwich.
The course was subsidised through the County FA and gave the opportunity for women to become qualified referees.
Emma Barnes, Women & Girls Development Officer said: "It is great to be able to offer females an alternative way to get involved in football, and it's also a good way for coaches and players to expand their knowledge.''
This course links in well with the Female Officials Programme which was launched in November 2008 and now runs in partnership with Arsenal & Millwall Lionesses girls' Centres of Excellence. Referees who show potential from the course will be put forward to take part in this programme, which provides mentoring from experienced referees and the opportunity to officiate within the Centre of Excellence programme.
Emma added: "It is really key that we can now offer female referees support from the word go, and that there are opportunities for them to develop with their refereeing at all levels."
