Middlesbrough end of season awards
 Women's Football News 3 Jun 2014
Middlesbrough recently held their end of season awards in the Legends Lounge at Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium.
Presentations were made by Sammie Leigh, who officially announced a change in management for next season as she returns to playing for the team. Established coach and player Lindsey Stephenson will take over Sammie's role.
Lindsay said: "It will be good to have Sammie's experience back playing on the pitch. With an experienced team and hopefully a few new additions to the squad via our trials, this puts us in the best possible place ahead of the season."
Most Improved Player was awarded to Holly Wells. Sammie said on Holly's win: "At the start of the season both of us decided she should move into the ladies team despite still being at the Centre Of Excellence. Holly's progression has been outstanding in a tough position."
Best Goalkeeping moment was awarded to Sarah Manning who stepped into goal late in a game, kept a clean sheet for 30 seconds and celebrated like she had won a World Cup on the full time whistle!
Players' Player of the season went to Clare Helm who naturally pleased to win: "Players' player is an award that is chosen by your team mates so obviously means a lot. The award could have gone to any number of the team and it was a close thing.
"It's great to have, but it's great to have the recognition of your hard work and effort from team mates."
The Manager's and Coaching staff player of the season was won by Becky Lillystone. "I'm really pleased to win manager's player as it shows that the coaches see that I'm doing something good!" Becky said. "I am just so pleased to have won it. It's a great way to finish the season. "
MFC Ladies also recognised the support from their sponsors this season including a special mention to Garry Wells who company Wells Solutions were home team sponsor, Andy Lamb, David Lillystone and Martin McGovern for the work that he does supplying match day programmes.
Andy Lamb said: "MFC Ladies have had a brilliant season in interest off the pitch too. The Gazette started to carry our results weekly and MFC.co.uk also featured more news and reports than before so big thanks to them.
"As we look to build on last season's sponsors support, I can already confirm that Middlesbrough's Sarah Borwell has agreed to sponsor Emily Scott next season and a new packages are available to suit all budgets. Further early bird pricing can be found by contacting dani@mfcladies.co.uk.
"We can be found at Mfcladies.co.uk, @mfcladies2012 and Facebook.com/mfcladies if you haven't joined us! My season's thanks would go to Thornaby FC staff who provide the hot dogs at half time and Dani's dad who gets the balls from the beck!"
