Reading Women have signed Laura May Walkley from Cardiff Met Ladies and Megan Ryan from Arsenal.
From the age of 16-18, Laura attended Arsenal Ladies Academy before returning home to Wales to represent Swansea in the Welsh Premier League. With Swansea she competed in the Champions League group stage in 2010-11 and in 2011-12. In 2013, Laura signed for Bristol Academy in the WSL and moved on to Cardiff Met Ladies for season 2013-14, where she won the league in the Welsh Premier League. Laura is in University at Cardiff Metropolitan studying sports coaching and development and playing football for the University.
"I am glad that Laura has agreed to become a part of Reading FC," said manager Jayne Ludlow. "She is a combative, creative midfield player who has senior international experience. I worked with Laura at Arsenal Ladies academy a few years back and it's great to have the opportunity to do so again."
Megan Ryan was captain of the development squad at Arsenal and did the league and cup double with them last season. Megan has been at Arsenal for five years, coming through their Centre of Excellence and before this she spent time in New Zealand, where she was also a part of their National side at Under-15s. Megan is now currently studying at degree in Law at Reading University.
Jayne added: "Megan joins us from Arsenal Ladies where she finished a very successful season campaign as their Development Squad captain and doing the league and cup double. She is a young central defender, who reads the game really well."
