Scottish Champions Glasgow City are delighted to announce the signing of 22-year-old Australian goalkeeper Niki Deiter.
Niki joins after just finishing four years on a soccer scholarship at Central Connecticut State University (CSSU) in the United States.
The former Australian youth international keeper was Captain at CSSU and also played in 2013 for New England Mutiny in the WPSL where she was named East Coast Goalkeeper of the Year.
Commenting on joining City, Niki said: "I'm really happy to be making the move to Scotland to join Glasgow City and to contribute as much as I can to the team. I'm looking forward to being part of such a competitive football club."
City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black added: "It was always a gamble to go through the first half of the season with one experienced goalkeeper. If Lee (Alexander) had suffered an injury then we would have been left with two youngsters in Autumn (Farrell) and Laura (Hamilton) competing for a first team jersey, which would be very unfair on them both. Therefore it was imperative that we identified a target and made sure she would compete vigorously for the number one jersey.
"I believe the signing of Niki does that. She comes with an impressive CV and I am certain she will enhance the squad. Everywhere else in the team there is huge competition and the goalkeeping position should be no different. Myself and the coaching staff are looking forward to working with Niki and I wish her well."
