Nottingham Forest Ladies have secured a home venue for their teams to play at Basford Utd Ground at Greenwich Avenue, NG6 0LD.
Nottingham Forest Ladies have been looking for a club base for several years but this has proved a difficult task with teams being previously split and playing at various venues. The closed season gifted opportunity to progress discussions with various grounds around Nottingham to host all Nottingham Forest Ladies' ten teams.
Operations Manager, Steve Gray from Forest Ladies was pivotal in the earlier discussions and approach and comments: "It is a challenge to find such a good facility in Nottingham that could host all our teams as well as being a force in Nottingham as a Men's and junior club. Basford Utd has had significant investment and have put much effort into ground development over the course of the last few years. It made absolute sense to speak with their Chairperson to instigate discussion and develop a partnership going forward."
Basford Utd Chairperson, Chris Munroe, is equally pleased with enabling the joint venture and responds: "We have some excellent space here at Greenwich Avenue and to offer our facility to help the continued development of a long standing club in Women's' and Girls football in Nottingham is something we are looking forward to support.
"As well as offering the excellent facilities associated with our first team, we are offering the main pitch to the Ladies first team for Sunday afternoon football, or with floodlit facility if needed. The rest of the teams will occupy the other excellent surface areas and we will be working closely to co-ordinate both our fixtures and that of Forest Ladies to ensure we are contributing to Male and Female football at local and high level ends of the football scale."
Forest Ladies Chairperson, PJ Andrews concludes: "We have appreciated playing at previous venues and acknowledge all those that have supported the club, especially Hucknall Rolls Royce last season. But to be able to have a fully resourced home for all our teams helps us realise our vision of club unity. The Basford Utd Committee have been superb and welcoming and we have been able to sign a commitment that will benefit both parties. We played at Basford back in 2005 and much has been developed since that time and it's interesting to return to familiar but new territory.
"The Ground Grading standards we have to adhere to in playing at the highest level in the Winter League for our first team have been easily met with Basford as they have developed the ground in line with their own ambitions. Chris Munroe has a strong vision for Basford to continue that development and if we can be part of that then it could benefit significantly to maintain and develop both women's' and girls football in Nottingham along with progressing Basford Utd ambitions."
Basford Utd are hosting a Nottingham Legends v Leicester City Legends on Sunday, 27 July at 2pm and Forest Ladies are looking to fully support and attend on the day.
