Tottenham Hotspur are looking forward to the forthcoming Premier League season after boosting their squad with two new signings.
Goalkeeper Toni-Anne Wayne has joined the club from Brighton & Hove Albion as well as Northern Ireland international midfielder Avilla Bergin.
"It's probably the signing for the season for us," said manager Karen Hills of Toni-Anne Wayne, who she knows well from their playing days together at Charlton Athletic, where they were FA Women's Cup runners-up. "Toni is a fantastic signing and she will give us a real platform defensively for next season."
Toni added: "I know Karen well and know what she demands from her players. I have the same mentality. I spoke to her and the move fitted perfectly for me. I've played many seasons against Spurs so I know what the team is all about, always difficult to beat, and there was definitely a shift in terms of quality on the ball last season. Spurs beat us (Brighton) 3-0 and deservedly so, and I'm confident the team can do well this season."
23-year-old Avilla Bergin has been capped four times by Northern Ireland including World Cup qualifying matches against Croatia, Iceland and France in 2009-10.
Recently at Loughborough University, Avilla is now ready to step into club football again and has joined the Spurs squad ahead of the FA Women's Premier League campaign, which kicks off against Gillingham on August 24.
"It's another great signing and I'm sure Avilla will be a real asset for the club," said Karen Hills. "She's working hard to return to full fitness and she showed real touches of class in the friendly against Arsenal at the weekend.
"She plays anywhere across the front three, works hard and understands the game. She looked a quality player against Arsenal."
