Due to torrential rain overnight and this morning, the referee has made the decision to call off tonight's FA WSL1 game between Bristol Academy and Manchester City due to a waterlogged pitch.
The bad weather is the tail end of Hurricane Bertha which has seen the South West hit with a month's worth of rain in 24 hours.
The game was due to be live on BT Sport and the Vixens were expecting a strong home crowd. Academy manager Dave Edmondson said: "It's disappointing to not be playing but with the amount of rainfall we have had and the amount that is forecast for the rest of the day it was the only sensible decision that could be made by the referee. There is standing water and the ball literally does not bounce when it lands. A shame but [it's] the best decision for the safety of the players and the integrity of the result."
The re-scheduled game date and time will be confirmed with Manchester City and the FA WSL later this week.
