Forest Green Rovers are confident that things are shaping up well for the new season.
The club has welcomed back Shaun (Josh) Giddins as first team manager after a year away at West Bromwich Albion and this has already improved the coaching and tactical awareness of the players.
"As well as that, we have had an absolutely exceptional group of last year's Under-16s come through," club secretary Rich Hale told Women's Soccer Scene. "Having won the National Under-16 Futsal title, Josh has already played five of them at first team level and they do not look out of place in either ability or physicality, so we are really excited about them.
"We are also expecting a few players to join from the University in Gloucester, so playing strength wise we are shaping up well.
"We have also had a couple of productive meetings with FGR officials, with a view to forming closer ties with the parent club both on and off the pitch, especially on the sponsorship and fundraising side."
Pre-season games have gone well, both at first team and reserve level, with good displays all round and even the only defeat in the first game against Whitman College, on tour from Washington State, USA, saw the players put in a solid first performance.
Forest Green Rovers start off the new season with a home game against Gosport Borough in South West Division One of the new look FA Women's Premier League.
