Billericay Town narrowly missed out on the Eastern Region League title last season but they have served an early notice that they will be amongst the front runners this time around.
They opened the new Premier Division campaign with a 6-2 victory away to Haringey Borough and took the honours for the largest win on the day. Sophie Whiting hit a hat-trick for Billericay with Paris Smith (2) and Frances Murphy also on target, with Holly Hinshelwood and Daria Kaminska replying for the home side.
Carly Vigors netted twice along with Claire Brooks and Abbey Dell as Barking won 4-2 against Acle whilst Great Shelford were 4-3 victors away to Leverstock Green thanks to Sophie Hopkins, Charlotte Maybank, Kate Saunders and Alison Wright (see match report).
Colchester Town and Stevenage battled out a 3-3 draw in which Rosi Webb bagged a brace and Georgia Box the other for Colchester and Stevenage replied through Josie North (2) and Alex North. The honours were also shared as Brentwood Town and AFC Dunstable finished level at 2-2. Dunstable took a first half lead with a strike from Tamara Bayne with Nicole Manning equalising for Brentwood who then went in front after the break through Cristina Fragnito, before Holly Skinner earned Dunstable a point.
North East League
The all-Premier Division tie between Peterlee RA and Whitley Bay went all the way to penalties in the Northern League Cup. Jade Ridley netted for Peterlee, with Steph Ord replying for Whitley who went on to win 5-4 on spot kicks. Steph Leighton bagged a hat-trick for Kader FC in their 6-1 victory over Redcar Athletic with Rebecca Degnen, Ashleigh Leighton and Ashleigh Suggett adding the others, while Robyn Stubbs hit five goals for Birtley St Josephs as they won 6-3 away to Middlesbrough Lionesses, Becki Miller joining her on the scoresheet. Blyth Town also notched up a 6-3 victory at the expense of Redcar Town in a battle between two league debutants.
Hessle Town are through to the Third Round of the Southern League Cup after beating Courts City 5-2. Ellie McKenzie was on target twice along with Emily Rymchuk, Jasmine Read and Victoria Stonehouse. Danielle Middleton (2), Katie Hawkshaw, Katy Ballantyne and Eleanor Smith scored the goals for Wakefield in their 5-3 First Round victory at Ossett Albion. Doncaster Belles (Women's) were 2-1 winners away to Rovers Foundation Ladies and Wetherby Athletic defeated Farsley AFC 3-0.
