Leicester City Ladies start their new season in the newly formed FA Women's Premier League Midlands Division One at their new home of the Leicester Road Stadium Hinckley on Sunday 24th August against Mansfield Town.
This will be followed by a home tie against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League Cup, both games kicking off at 2pm.
Pre-season has seen Leicester City Ladies play their local rivals Leicester City Women at the King Power Stadium. This was followed by Leicester City Ladies hosting their own tournament at their new ground on Sunday 27th July when teams from Bradford City, Shaw Lane Barnsley, Coventry City, Notts Forest, Derby County and the two Leicester sides competed in an enjoyable day.
The sun shone on over twenty games, each lasting 20 minutes and using the two outside pitches. However the longest game was the semi final where it took Notts Forest 29 penalties to beat Bradford City 15-14 to reach the final! Leicester City Ladies lost the other semi final to eventual winners Coventry City who beat Nottingham Forest, the Final being played in the Main Stadium where the awards for the day were made after the final whistle. Such was the success of this event that Leicester City Ladies are hoping to make this an annual event.
The team have also been away with the annual "Twinning Event" in Strasbourg. Despite getting to the Final of the tournament, the team were unfortunately beaten by the German team in the event on penalties! (sounds familiar?)
