Chorley have had an extremely busy pre-season with lots going on, on and off the pitch.
The first team have secured the talents of Lami Sonola to coach the first team. Lami is an ex-non-league footballer and has worked for a number of male Premier League clubs through his full time work. He currently heads up the Education and Business Development section of the Manchester United Foundation.
Lami led the Man Utd Girls Under-18s to the treble in his first year of coaching and after two years away from football due to work commitments, he is looking forward to the new season and working with playing and coaching staff of Chorley Ladies.
In 2013-14, Chorley Ladies trialled a new Reserve side, who played in the Lancashire County League and finished fourth in their first season. The side was an exciting mix of first team players who needed game time and Under-16 players who were progressing to adult football. Over the summer they have recruited a new manager, Lee Kershaw, who has already organised the ladies in preparation for the 2014-15 season.
Chorley LFC has always struggled to secure sponsorship, having to rely on the kindness of relatives and local businesses to support the team. This summer they are delighted to announce a partnership with local company DebtFree Direct. The company has very generously provided funds to buy a new kit and support match day travel. Chorley are already planning community-based events to combine the efforts of both organisations and raise the profile of women's football.
Chorley kick off the new season in Northern Division One of the FA Women's Premier League this Sunday at home to Chester-le-Street at Charnock Richard FC (2pm).
